Jump
Continue at another step of the same chatbot without drawing a long connection across the canvas.
What it does#
Jump sends the chat to another step of the same chatbot, for example back to the main menu. It sends nothing itself and doesn't wait.
Use it to reuse a part of your bot (a menu, a details form) from several places without long connections. The chat continues from the chosen step and doesn't come back on its own. For words customers can type at any time, see Key Words.
Set it up#
- 1
Name the destination
Click the step you want to jump to and give it a clear Step name (letters and numbers), such as
mainMenu. Only named steps can be chosen. - 2
Add and connect Jump
Drag Jump onto the canvas and connect the end of a branch into it.
- 3
Select Jump to
Click Jump, and under Jump to choose the destination step.
- 4
Inspect the destination
The Jump card on the canvas shows where it goes. Click Go to step to find that step on the canvas.
- 5
Test the route
Click Preview, go down the branch and check that the chat continues at the destination.
What your customer sees#
Nothing from the Jump itself: they simply get the destination step next. If it's a question, the chat waits for their answer there. Earlier answers are kept.
Common problems#
| Problem | Why | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Connect a step into this one and choose the step to jump to. | No input or no destination | Connect a step into Jump and choose Jump to |
| The step I want isn't in the list | It has no name | Give it a Step name |
| The Jump shows no destination | The destination was deleted | Choose a new destination and publish |
| Customers go back to the start instead | The destination was deleted after publishing | Choose a new destination and publish again |
| The bot sends messages in a loop and then stops | The jump leads back to itself through steps that don't wait | Put a question in the loop so the bot waits for the customer |
Example#
Back to the menu. At the end of the Opening hours branch, add a Jump with Jump to set to mainMenu. After reading the hours, the customer gets the main menu again.
