Run, preview and publish

Test one step or the whole AI flow, publish it safely, and put it in front of customers through a chatbot.

Run one step#

Run once runs a single step with the inputs from your last test chat, so you can tune a prompt or Python code without chatting again.

  1. 1

    Preview once first

Run once needs the flow's inputs, which load when you preview. Click Preview and send a message.

  2. 2

    Run the step

Right-click the step on the canvas and choose Run once. Agentim saves the flow and shows the step's output.

  3. 3

    Change the inputs

Open the inputs (the toggle at the top) to edit them as JSON, for example a different question, then click Run again.

Run once is on the AI Flows page canvas. Inside a chatbot, test with the chatbot's Preview instead (next section).

Preview the whole flow#

Click Preview in the header (or press ⌘P / Ctrl+P). Agentim saves the flow and opens a test chat in the side panel. Only you see this chat; messages never reach customers.

  • AI flow version to test: Draft tests your saved changes, Live is what customers get.
  • Restart conversation starts over.
  • Each click on Preview starts a fresh test conversation.

Inside a chatbot, use the chatbot's Preview. Under What to test, choose Whole chatbot (the AI flow answers when the chat reaches the AI Flow step) or This AI flow only.

Save, drafts and publish#

Saving and going live are separate, so you can edit an AI flow that live chatbots use without changing what customers get.

  1. 1

    Edit and save

Preview saves your changes as a draft. You see Saved as a draft, and the status next to the flow's name shows Unpublished changes.

  2. 2

    Publish

Click Publish. If live chatbots use this flow, Agentim names them and asks Publish to live chatbots? Click Publish to update them.

  3. 3

    Check the status

The status next to the flow's name changes to Live · version N.

Inside a chatbot, AI flow changes save automatically as a draft and go live when you publish the chatbot. If other live chatbots use the same flow, Agentim asks before updating them too.

Versions and restore#

Click the status next to the flow's name to open Versions. Agentim keeps your recent published versions (the menu shows how many).

To go back, click Restore on a version and confirm. That version goes live again and replaces your draft, so unpublished changes are lost. Live chatbots that use the flow switch to it right away.

What Publish does#

Publishing an AI flow makes your draft its live version. Every chatbot whose AI Flow step uses the flow answers with it from then on. An AI flow has no chat link or website widget of its own: customers reach it only through a chatbot.

After you publish from the AI Flows page, the Published panel says where the new version is live (Live in 2 chatbots: ...), or that no chatbot uses it yet, so customers can't reach it. From there, Try it opens a test chat and Use in a chatbot puts the flow in front of customers.

Use it in a chatbot#

Click Use in a chatbot in the flow's header, in the Published panel, in a flow's menu (⋯) on the AI Flows page, or Add it to a chatbot in a new flow's next steps. The panel shows the chatbots that already use the flow and two ways in:

  1. 1

Create a chatbot with this AI flow

Click Create chatbot. Agentim makes a new draft chatbot: Start, then an AI Flow step on this flow, then one step for each Exit of the flow (Talk to a person for exits named like Talk to a human, End for the others). It opens in Chat Builder with its test chat. Nothing goes live and your other chatbots don't change.

  2. 2

Or add it to an existing chatbot

Click Add next to a chatbot. It opens with a new AI Flow step on this flow, to the right of its steps and not connected yet. Drag from the step where the AI should take over onto it. A draft chatbot saves the change as usual; a live chatbot keeps running unchanged until you publish.

  3. 3

    Publish the chatbot

Test it with Preview, then publish the chatbot. Its website widget, WhatsApp and other channels now answer with the AI flow. Publishing the chatbot also makes the flow's draft live.

OptionWhat it does
Create chatbotA new draft chatbot around the flow. The message that confirms it has Undo, which deletes only that new draft.
AddOpens that chatbot with an unconnected AI Flow step on the flow. Chatbots that already use the flow say Uses it.
OpenOpens a chatbot that already uses the flow.

In the API: POST /ai-flows/{id}/chatbots creates the same draft chatbot (scopes ai_flows:read and builders:write). See the API reference.

Before October 2026 an AI flow could be shared on its own, with a chat link (/#/ai-chat/...) or the addAIWidget website code. Those links and embeds keep working; nothing changes for the customers who use them. The app no longer creates new ones: for a new website widget, put the flow in a chatbot and use the chatbot's widget.

What needs Pro#

On the Free plan:

  • You can have 1 AI flow.
  • The website widget and AI chat answer up to 100 new conversations a day.
  • Chats show Agentim branding.

Pro removes these limits. AI replies use AI credits on both plans; on Pro they can also run on your own AI key. See Billing for the full comparison.

Common mistakes#

  • "Open the preview once first". Run once needs inputs. Click Preview, send a message, then run the step again.
  • Customers still get the old answers. You saved a draft but didn't publish. Click Publish (or publish the chatbot that uses the flow).
  • Published, but customers can't reach it. No chatbot uses the flow. Click Use in a chatbot, then publish that chatbot.
  • Added to a chatbot, but the AI never answers. The new AI Flow step isn't connected. Drag from the step before it onto the AI Flow step, then publish the chatbot.
  • Testing the wrong version. In the test chat, check AI flow version to test is Draft.
  • Lost changes after Restore. Restore replaces the draft. Publish your work before restoring an older version.
