Check your chatbot

Before a chatbot goes live, Publish checks it for steps that aren't connected and settings that would break the chat, and tells you how to fix each one.

Check your chatbot#

You don't need to run a check yourself. Every time you click Publish, Agentim checks the whole flow first and stops anything that would leave customers stuck.

Looking for Flow Doctor? It's no longer in the app. The checks below run on every publish instead.

  1. 1

    Click Publish

At the top right of the builder.

  2. 2

Connect any step marked in red

If you see A few steps aren't connected yet, the steps in question are marked in red on the canvas. Connect each one to the next step.

  3. 3

    Fix the problems listed

Fix these before publishing lists anything customers would run into. Each line names the step and says what to change. Open the step, fix it, then click Publish again.

  4. 4

    Decide on warnings

Publish with these warnings? lists smaller issues: the bot works, but check them first. Click Fix first to go back, or Publish anyway.

Keep big chatbots simple#

  • Use one Switch step instead of a chain of Filter steps that check the same value.
  • Use Set variables to save values, instead of an HTTP step that only stores data.
  • Turn on Main menu instead of adding a "back to menu" button to every branch.
  • Use a Talk to a person step so the conversation stays in Agentim when your team takes over.
  • Group parts of a large flow in a Brick.

Try a big change on a copy first: Duplicate the chatbot on the Chat Builder page, test the copy in Preview, then publish it.
