End

Finish a conversation with an optional closing message.

What it does#

End finishes a conversation. It can send a closing message, such as Thanks, see you soon!, and nothing runs after it.

Put End at the end of every branch that's done. To send a message and keep going, use Send Message. To go to another part of the bot, use Jump.

Set it up#

  1. 1

    Add the step

Drag End from the Flow group in the Steps panel onto the canvas.

  2. 2

    Write the closing message

Click the step. Under Message, replace End with your closing text, for example Thanks {{@fullName}}, your visit is booked. See you soon! Leave it empty to end without a message: the card then shows No closing message (optional).

  3. 3

    Connect the branches

Connect the last step of each finished branch to End. Several branches can share one End.

What happens next#

When the customer writes again after End:

  • On your website, the bot starts again from the Start Message right away.
  • On WhatsApp, the first message after End closes the old conversation without a reply. The message after that starts the bot again from the Start Message.

Keywords are checked first: a Key Words step, or the Main menu keywords in Settings, work right after End.

Errors and what you see#

  • "Connect a step into this one." Nothing leads to End. Connect the last step of a branch to it.
  • Customers get the word "End". The default text wasn't changed. Write your own closing message, or clear it.
  • An HTTP call or notification after End never runs. Nothing runs after End. Move those steps before it.
  • A name is missing in the closing message. The variable was empty, for example because that branch never asked for it. Ask for it earlier, or remove it from the message.
  • The customer's first WhatsApp message after End gets no reply. That's expected (see above). If customers should see the menu right away, end the branch with a Jump to your menu instead, or turn on Main menu and tell them to type menu.

Examples#

Booking confirmation. Collect the details, then End with Thanks {{@fullName}}, your visit on {{@visitDate}} is booked.

Point to the menu. End with Need anything else? Type menu., and turn on Main menu in Settings.
